red light buena vista is an experimental documentary about bueche’s neighborhood in albuquerque, new mexico. originally built as the city’s first ‘aristocratic’ suburb, buena vista heights was designed for white midwesterners by developers from ohio, where bueche was raised. today, the neighborhood is divided into thirds by the lead-coal corridor, a set of three major arterial roads that are paced by a long series of synchronized stoplights. this system creates a rhythmic, pulsing flow of traffic that shapes the emotional and somatic pallet of the neighborhood. despite its harshness and history, it is also home, and the place they’ve lived the longest and love deeply. red light buena vista attempts an emotional map of the neighborhood.
