submissions for printer jam’s inaugural almanac book series open october 14th

printer jam is launching its first open call for almanac, a new series of photobooks dedicated to photography as emotional inquiry into our historical moment. Just as a traditional almanac is a record of its time, the printer jam almanac is interested in photography that looks closely at the present.

Each edition of almanac will showcase a singular body of work, giving space for one artist’s world to unfold in book form. Any and all types of work within the photographic and expanded photographic genre will be considered.

what we’re looking for:

  • Completed or nearly completed photographic projects that would benefit from being published as a book.

  • A sense of how the work might live in book form (loose ideas, sketches, a series of questions, a poem, or mock-up dummies are welcome but not required)

  • An openness to working with printer jam on organizational and presentation methods.

details:

  • One artist will be selected to publish the inaugural volume of almanac with printer jam.

  • The book will be softcover, 6x8, saddle stitched, maximum 48 pages, designed and published in collaboration with the artist.

  • The selected artist will receive promotion through printer jam’s distribution channels and 25 copies of the first edition of 100 copies of the book.

  • The remaining 75 copies will be sold through printer jam, and the artist will receive 10% royalties on any copies sold.

submission guidelines:

  • Up to 10 images (JPEGs, 2000px on the long side, 72 dpi)

  • Working project title or title ideas

  • One sentence Project Description

  • Project Statement (max 500 words)

  • Artist CV/resume (pdf)

  • (Optional) Anything else that will help us understand this project as a book: sketches, screenshots of the note in your notes app where all the good ideas live, pdf book dummies, poems, any and all fears you have, etc.
