Til We Are Full

$15.00

TIL WE ARE FULL explores body size, gender, race, and all bodily classifications as socialized constructs. claudia hermano reimages their body by printing self portraits on various fabrics, then manipulating these images, constructing and posing with their flattened body, and ultimately creating a newly flattened image of their body. They explore the borders between biological and representational body; extending identity to fabric, flesh, and paper.  The work offers commentary on the physical and social construction of self. hermano visualizes the shifting construction of identity and articulates the messiness of being embodied.

Bringing together photographic self-portraits and poetry to explore constructed identity, the book offers a trans* understanding of embodiment, where body and flattened body collapse into a whole new thing. Included is an essay by fellow photographer Kelsey Chloë Sucena, reflecting on photography’s relationship to trans identity and offering a personal reading of hermano’s work.

6”x9”, 48 pages, softcover, perfect bound — published 2024, Albuquerque, NM
